About Savanur Town
Savanur ULB has Municipal System Since from 1872, The Nawab Of Savanur at that time Abudl Mazidkhan Dileerjung Bahaddur have started the system in welfare of citizens, Now Savanur Town has total of 23 wards and 23 members representing each ward. As per 2011 Population Survey, Total Population is 40,567 (20,754 male and 19,813 female), among them 3928 Peoples belongs to S.C. & 510 Peoples belongs to S.T.
History of Savanur:
This town was ruled by Marathas and Bahamani Kings. It is famous for historical town. Nawab of Savanur transferred his Head-Quarter from Bankapur to Savanur in the month of "SHRAVANA" by this reason this town named as "SAVANUR. Bungalow of Nawab, Nawab's daughters bungalow, famous Sri Sathybodha math, rare "Dodda Hunse Mara" are in this town.
Savanur is situated 10km away to west of Poona-Bangalore National Highway. The Savanur town is 8km away from east of Savanur Railway Station. Savanur is commercially important town in Haveri District, World famous Betel leaves are produced and marketed on a larger scale and the leaves exported to foreign countries and outside states.
Savanur town geographically 41° 51' North Latitude and 75° 05' East Longitude.
Nearest places for Communication are- Hubli, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Ranebennur, Davangere.
How to reach:
The best way to reach the Savanur is by bus, NH-4 (puna-Bangalore Road) is 9km away from Savanur and all the buses travelling between Haveri-Gadag are the best way to reach Savanur and from Hubli also there are meny buses vis Shiggaon.
By train, nearest railway station is Savanur(Jallapur) is 9km far away from Savanur city, where all the local trains travelling from Bangalore -Hubli are available.
By air, the nearest Air ports are Hubli and Belgaum.

To achieve complete scientific solid waste management we have started
1. Door to door collection and segregation of waste.
2. Involvement of Self help groups( SHG) in Solid Waste Management.
3. Production of vermi compost from municipal solid waste.
4. Avoidance of manual scavenging.
5. Clean and Pure drinking water to public.
To ensure avoidance of water borne diseases TMC has started pure drinking water unit with UV and RO water filtration technologies.
We are maintaining our city website http://savanurtown.gov.in/ in collaboration with Municipal Reforms Cell (MRC). To maintain the transparency in administration Here we are disclosing almost all the information related to our Town Municipal Council, where the information like- Details of MP, MLA, MLC, city Council, Staff, Schemes, Works, Rain water Harvesting, Roads, Drains, Street lights, City financials, Budget, Meeting proceedings & etc is published and this is also the gateway for accessing all Online applications designed by the MRC for the public and office usage.
2. Registration of Birth, Death & Still births.
We have digitized the Birth, Death, Still birth records from 1990 to till date and issuing computerized certificates to the citizens Register within 21 days from date of event in your Town Municipal Council and get free certificate.
3. Public Grievance and Readressal System
Here citizens of Savanur town limit can register their complaints related to municipal system and get solved.
4. Fund Based Accounting System.
We have Computerized Double entry accounting system in our office, Office accountants are daily updating every transactions related to all the schemes, to generate annual performance reports and also helps to effective management of budgets. We can get annual performance reports
5. GIS based property tax implementation system.
It is an major project of municipal reforms,
The Field Survey has been done for all the properties in the ULB and digitized ward maps with individual properties have been prepared. Properties have been assigned a unique property ID Number. This has resulted in an accurate database of all the properties in the ULB. Computerized MIS database was created and frozen after having issued the citizen the details of field survey data. This data base has been given role based access and is a secure and fool proof system which has helped to keep the documents safely and avoid tampering of details especially the dimensions, ownership details, creation of new property , transfer etc which is a regular grievance of Citizen a gainst ULB functionaries in the manual system. It is very useful to citizens with citizen helpful features and ULB friendly features.
